Passport & International Travel Information

Since September 11th there have been many developments in regard to national and international security that have impacted the world of tourism and travel. As you may be aware, shortly before the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, new regulations for passports had been introduced. These two events, combined with mass paranoia caused a major backlog in the passport offices across Canada. I am pleased to announce that at this time the offices have caught up and passports are being issued approximately within the recommended deadlines!

The intent of this page is to keep you updated on all new initatives within the passport office. We hope this page will in fact offer a type of 'one-stop shopping,' where you will be able to find links to all of the information you need to know when beginning the process of acquiring a passport for yourself and your family.

Furthermore, we have added hints within the page to keep this process as easy as possible. You will find links to items like the Weather Network - for those of you heading out in the middle of a Canadian winter to a warmer climate I'm sure this will serve as fuel for anticipation!

Contrary to the rumours you may have been hearing, passports are not necessary for Canadian citizens travelling to or from the United States. However, if you are a landed immigrant or permanent resident you may need a visa.

If you are a permanent resident or landed immigrant and are planning to travel, click here to find out if you require a visa.

Below you will find that each heading will link you directly to the highlighted item. We have tried to create this site based on your needs ~ determined by frequently asked questions. However, if there is something that is still troubling you or you are having problems with any of the stages in this process please feel free to contact our constituency office at 1-800-465-1726 or please e-mail us!
