Survey Results from the August 2003 General Survey |
The response to the general survey sent out by my office in August 2003 has been tremendous. It is clear that the constituents of Huron-Bruce are eager and willing to 'Have Your Say on Important Public Issues'.
As the introduction to the survey indicated, my most important and fundamental duty is to represent the interests of the people of Huron-Bruce in Ottawa. Through this survey, I sought to confront you with some of the arguments on selected topics that have been forwarded to me. I am pleased to announce that over the past two months, thousands of responses were forwarded to my office where they were tabulated.
Please note, this particular questionnaire restricted constituents to a 'yes' or 'no' response. This was so that the respondent had the opportunity to vote as a Member of Parliament is expected to. The majority of surveys that were returned to this office were filled out appropriately. However, several constituents opted to write comments or leave one or several questions blank. For this reason, you will notice the following results include room for 'no answer' (n/a) and 'spoiled'. To be clear, responses that were considered spoiled often offered only comments, had more than one box marked, or added a box indicated 'maybe'.To maintain accuracy of the results we have tabulated these responses into the whole. In addition, because we have chosen to display the 4,500-plus responses in terms of percent, some of the totals may not add up to 100% due to rounding.
